Almost all the districts in our country are divided into small parts. Officers are appointed by the government department for all these parts.
This officer works in his related department like a civil, technical, or electrical engineer.
The SDO exam is conducted by PCS (public commission service).
The state conducts pcs exams in its own name. For example Bihar public commission service.

The work of the SDO
- SDO is the head of its department, and all other small officers are responsible for their work.
- SDO develops its area with the help of tehsildar and other officials.
- In addition, SDO listens to complaints from the public about the small officer’s actions and takes appropriate action.
- The role that a district has in the entire district of a DN (district magistrate) is in the SDO’s own department.
Qualification of SDO
The candidate must have completed the minimum graduation for this post. Candidates can apply even if they are in the last semester.
Candidates who have graduated in any stream can apply for this exam such as B.A, B.S .C, B.COM, engineering, agriculture, medical, hotel management, etc.
You do not have to be a resident of that state to fill the PSC form of any state.
For example, an Odisha candidate can also fill in the PSC form in Bihar and take the exam.
Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and a maximum of 30 years old in order to fill out a form to become an SDO officer.
This age criterion is for everyone. It’s up to the state to decide what age discount is available.
Category wise the age limit increases. 21 to 30 years for general category candidates and 3 to 5 years for OBC and SC/ST candidates.
3 years for OBC and 5 years to relax for sc \ st. You need to pass graduation to complete this form.
This exam has a three-stage. You have to go through these 3 stages
After completing three stages in the exam, you will be selected for SDO
This is the first exam for SDO in which the candidate is asked the objective question of gk, maths, reasoning
Remember that this exam has negative marking. The candidate is ready for the mains exam after passing this exam.
The candidate has to take a written test for this exam. Mains exam is very important for state PCS because the mark that comes in it will be a merit for the final selection.
When the candidate prelim also clarifies the mains exam. The candidate is then called in for an interview.
The interview asks questions of 200 marks. It also asks questions about your own state or subject related.
You can try the exam up to your maximum age limit.
All states have different pay rates. The average salary of an SDO is around Rs 23,640, allowance and grade are added separately.
Including all the benefits and allowances, SDO’s salary is Rs 51,378 per month under the new joining time.
